The objects created by Matthias Kaiser display the inherent qualities of the materials worked with. There is an effort to reveal, not hide, the unique attributes of each of the materials.
Kaiser’s affinity with mystery, obsession, and alchemical transformation provide a never ending source of inspiration. Removing industrial processes wherever possible, Kaiser ensures each object retains its singularity - allowing for the collection to appear heterogeneous, displaying each of their individual textures, markings, and colours.
Alongside both decorative and functional aspects, Kaiser believes the objects’ true poetry lies in the balance of intent and accident from the creative journey.
