KERAMISCHE WERKSTATT MARGARETENHÖHE

KERAMISCHE WERKSTATT MARGARETENHÖHE

The Keramische Werkstatt Margaretenhöhe was founded in 1924 in Essen to encourage local artisanal skills. Their  hand-crafted beautiful ceramics reflect the formal principles of the Bauhaus with a seamless blend of form and function. Now under the direction of South Korean ceramicist Yongjae Lee. Their tableware collection was developed with this in mind resulting in a range of classic, timeless pieces perfect for everyday use.

We visited their workshop located in the Zollverein a former coking plant that has been remarkably preserved and contains the museum of the Ruhr. We were amazed that all this creativity is the work of a small team of dedicated people. It gave us a new respect and love for their products. Their individuality is reflected in the details of their workspace.
