Original Madras Trading Company

The Original Madras Trading Company started out in the 1970s when the grandfather of present owner Prasan Shah emigrated from Chennai to New York City to sell his lightweight, handspun cotton fabric to major American brands. Today this family business still occupies the same building in the city’s garment district, producing a covetable collection of button-down shirts in authentic, handwoven Madras.
